Boogie Angst proudly presents ‘Sinner,’ the first single of 2021 from Rotterdam-based artist Moods and rising American soul prospect Nic Hanson.

As the follow-up to ‘Moonrider’ alongside Gold Coast collective daste, ‘Sinner’ once again spotlights Mood’s (real name Nick Lubbersen) penchant for crafting soulful R&B cuts with a nostalgic and low-fi edge. Renowned for his vocal duties alongside Moon Boots with ‘Keep The Faith,’ Nic Hanson brings his A-game in the form of soulful vocal chops for this precedent-setting first single of the year from Boogie Angst.

“Nic just has THAT voice,” explains Lubbersen on working with Hanson. I love his sound & timing, a bit raspy, and a great range. I’ve been listening for quite some time and I was eager to work with him. The layers and harmonies he works with are just crazy. By the time I’d heard what he had to offer the collab was a done deal for me.

Where 2020 saw Lubbersen collaborate with rising alt R&B powerhouse Two Another, his 2018 released debut LP ZOOM OUT has now racked more than 20m streams worldwide, with additional remix duties for Taku on Future Classic keeping the Rotterdam-staple visible and active among the craziest of times.

Reflecting on his attitude in the wake of music’s strangest year to date, Lubbersen explains: “What happened in these times music-wise is that I was forced to think more about the long-term and my directions. Those reflections made me feel like I’m in such an early stage of my career still. There is a lot to learn and try.”

With more than 80m streams on Spotify and a handful of international touring duties under his belt, Moods new single adds to a bumper year of releases from Boogie Angst, who are also home to Kraak & Smaak, Saux, Secret Rendezvous, David Harks, and Snacks.
